I have been flirting with the idea of writing a blog for a while now. Consistency has always stayed my hand. I have always worried I would find myself unable to commit to writing for a blog routinely over the long term. And that seems to be the most important thing with a blog. According to Oxford Languages, the definition of a blog starts ” A regularly updated website or web page…”. For any familiar with my life now may feel a queer time to start such an endeavor then. I have a beautiful 6mo infant; I have recently returned to a full college load. Yet I believe the time is perfect for starting a Blog.
Motivation
I have been doing some light reading on how to improve as a writer, and the answer seems to be split between two camps. “Read non-stop” and “Write Every Day”

I cannot imagine I will have the time or energy to write every day. However, I can try to get a weekly blog started and If I feel like writing more than that I will. I have some ideas for what I want to write about and how I will get inspired to write more.
- Writing Poetry! I want to try and write about my world a bit more. Just take my notebook out and be inspired.
- Reading more books! I want to try to read at least one book per week.
- School work! I am positive I will have plenty of things to write about stemming from college work.
So Why Read?
I am not entirely sure why one should read my posts. This post is more of a declaration of war against all forces opposed to my blogging. However, I do suspect my future posts will have more novel ideas or at least a collection of ideas all sourced, tagged, and summarized into cute little posts with tags and such. Part of this is a test of some note-taking ideas. I currently have my notes written out in a stream-of-consciousness style. This is fine, but it’s hard to search through, especially since it is handwritten. It would be nice to re-engage with my notes and compile them into a blog post about what I thought of the information I had read and try to connect it with other notes and blog posts. I hope to create a tangled web of information here… If other people read that or interact with this blog, the better.
Wrap Up
That is good enough for a first post I think. It actually wasn’t too hard to get wordpress up and working. I didn’t realize my namecheap hosting subscription contained free ssl certs for subdomains. Or at least I got this extra one for free. I’m sure it will still take some time to get used to all the features present within wordpress. It currently appears to be very easy to use but it must have some depth somewhere right? Undoubtedly, I will get a book about wordpress/blogging from the library in the coming days; that is a tale for another day.
